Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Educational Purpose

Important disclaimer: ProtestSim is an educational tool for practising sailing protest hearings. All outcomes, verdicts, and rulings generated by ProtestSim are simulated and are not authoritative. They do not represent official interpretations of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and should not be relied upon in actual protest proceedings.

2. Use of Service

By using ProtestSim, you agree to use it solely for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes. You must not attempt to circumvent usage limits, reverse engineer the application, or use it in any way that violates applicable law.

3. Accounts and Credits

Free accounts are limited to 2 hearings and 3 scenario analyses. Paid plans are available as described on the billing page. Hearing credits are consumed at the time of creation, not completion. Credits do not expire.

4. Payments and Subscriptions

Payments are processed by Stripe. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time via the customer portal. One-time pay-as-you-go purchases are non-refundable once credits have been consumed. We reserve the right to update pricing with reasonable notice.

5. Intellectual Property

The Racing Rules of Sailing are published by World Sailing. ProtestSim uses AI-generated interpretations of rule numbers and does not reproduce the rules verbatim. All ProtestSim software, design, and content (excluding user-generated content) is owned by ProtestSim and may not be reproduced without permission.

6. AI-Generated Content

Responses are generated by Claude (Anthropic) and may contain inaccuracies. ProtestSim makes no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated content. Always consult the official RRS and a qualified judge for authoritative rulings.

7. Limitation of Liability

ProtestSim is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ProtestSim is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including any reliance on AI-generated outcomes in actual protest hearings.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of ProtestSim after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be communicated by email.
